Treats from the Herd

Snacks the herd actually demands, in Glytja's words. Always check with your vet before new treats, introduce them slowly, keep portions small, and use horse-safe ingredients only.

Fróði's Apple-Oat BitesSnack critic approved

Fróði inspects every batch before he eats. These pass. Royal approval.

You will need
  • 1 apple, grated (no seeds, no core)
  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup oat flour or extra oats
  • 1 tbsp molasses
  • a pinch of cinnamon
Make it
  1. Combine into a stiff dough, adding a splash of water if dry.
  2. Roll into balls and flatten slightly.
  3. Bake at 350°F for about 18 minutes.
  4. Cool before the taste test.

A note from the barn: every horse is different. Skip any ingredient your horse cannot have, and ask your vet if you are unsure. Love, G.
