Some doors close quietly. Others make a statement.
Meet Door Slammer (Hurðaskellir), one of Iceland's 13 mischievous Yule Lads.
According to Icelandic folklore, Door Slammer has a rather unusual holiday hobby.
He sneaks into houses in the middle of the night and slams doors as loudly as possible, waking everyone up and generally making himself a nuisance.
No presents. No cookies. No goodwill toward mankind.
Just SLAM!
Naturally, when he arrived at HestaRokk Farm in Wisconsin, he felt right at home.
Between six opinionated Icelandic horses, 13 troublemaking Yule Lads, and a family that apparently believes doors are optional, he had finally found his people.
This kitchen towel is for the woman who has spent the entire holiday season making Christmas magical for everyone else.
She's bought the presents.
Wrapped the presents.
Decorated the house.
Baked the cookies.
Cleaned the kitchen.
And prepared enough food to feed a small Viking army.
Meanwhile, the family has been incredibly supportive.
Someone asks what's for breakfast.
Someone else wants to know what's for lunch.
And just as she finally sits down with a cup of coffee, someone wanders into the kitchen and asks the question that could bring an otherwise reasonable woman to the brink.
"What's for dinner?"
DINNER?
She hasn't even finished cleaning up LUNCH.
There are dishes in the sink, flour on the counter, wrapping paper stuck to the cat, and approximately 47 things still on her Christmas to-do list.
And you want to know what's for dinner?
ASK ME ONE MORE TIME WHAT'S FOR DINNER.
Go ahead.
We dare you.
Somewhere in the distance, a door slams.
Door Slammer smiles.
Finally. A woman who understands him.
Featuring Charlotte Guernsey's original illustration of Door Slammer, this delightfully sarcastic kitchen towel celebrates Icelandic folklore, Christmas kitchen chaos, and the women who keep everyone fed while wondering why nobody else seems to know where the refrigerator is.
Because Christmas is supposed to be the season of peace, love, and goodwill.
But if one more person asks what's for dinner, somebody's getting cereal.
A Kitchen Towel With a Little Attitude
Some kitchen towels are decorative.
Some are practical.
This one is a warning.
Our Door Slammer Yule Lad Kitchen Towel combines Charlotte Guernsey's whimsical artwork with a saying that every woman who's ever cooked for a family will appreciate.
Made from a durable blend of 85% micro-polyester and 15% polyamide, this quick-drying towel is ready for everyday kitchen tasks while adding a generous helping of holiday humor.
Its 16″ × 25″ size makes it perfect for drying dishes, wiping up kitchen mishaps, or hanging prominently from your oven door where everyone can read it.
Especially the person who's about to ask what's for dinner.
Again.
Perfect for Christmas hostess gifts, stocking stuffers, Icelandic horse lovers, moms, grandmothers, and women who have officially retired from being the family's personal chef.
It also makes a hilarious gift for the woman who does all the holiday cooking.
Although, if you really want to make her happy, cook dinner for her.
And clean up afterward.
